There has  been  about  75 school shootings in the  last  6 years. That is about an  average  of  12  a year. The  media uses language that implies that these happen every day in schools  all over  the country.  ”It  has become  an american nightmare  that too many  schools know  too well.” http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=1501044n

The  media hypes up  the  fear of  kids killing  kids by  covering  the  same  story every day for  weeks. Also, it  creates  a stigma of  the  smart loner kid that is going  to  snap  and  bring  a gun  to school. http://usnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2012/12/14/15911025-authorities-id-gunman-who-killed-27-in-elementary-school-massacre?lite

‘ “We would hang out, and he was a good kid. He was smart,” Joshua Milas said. “He was probably one of the smartest kids I know.” Catherine Urso, of Newtown, told the Associated Press her college-age son knew Lanza. “He just said he was very thin, very remote and was one of the Goths,” she said.’
